Chevron is defined by its meeting angled ends. The resulting continuous zigzag gives the floor a strong direction, making the relationship between the pattern and the room's main sightline especially important. The current catalog includes an engineered white oak chevron family. Compare a physical chevron sample and a scaled layout to evaluate the angle and proportions in your own room.

A complete specification identifies the angle as well as length, width, thickness, grade, construction, and finish. Resolve how the floor meets stairs, adjoining planks, and stone before releasing the order. Where a project needs a border, ask the installer to show it on the layout. These decisions help keep a bold patterned floor intentional rather than leaving important cuts to be improvised on site.

Questions before you choose

What gives chevron its continuous zigzag?

Its angled board ends meet along a consistent line. That is different from herringbone's offset rectangular blocks.

Do I need to specify the board angle?

Yes. Confirm the angle and product system with the supplier and installer before ordering.

Can I buy regular planks and cut them into chevron?

Do not assume ordinary plank milling will work. Use material specified for the intended pattern and installation.

Where should the centerline sit?

Choose it in relation to the room's main sightline and fixed architectural features, supported by a scaled layout.

Is the chevron family solid or engineered?

The current published Graf sample family is engineered white oak.

Does the sample menu prove stock availability?

No. Confirm full-floor quantities, custom details, and lead time separately.

What should I approve before installation begins?

Approve the material sample, complete specification, pattern direction, centerline, borders, transitions, and cutting allowance.
